W. L. Butler Construction, Inc. 2008 Target Award Recipient

Redwood City, Calif. (PRWEB) April 2, 2008 -- W. L. Butler Construction, Inc., a general contractor specializing in superior quality automotive and retail projects, industrial buildings, commercial shells and tenant improvements, was the proud recipient of the 2008 Target Corporation Mack Garrett Project Team of the Year Award, presented annually to the group of individuals who have personified TEAM while making our communities a better place.

W. L. Butler Construction was recognized by Target Corporation for its leadership and participation in the Heart of America Foundation READesign project at Washington Elementary School in San Jose, California on September 15, 2007. Target and W. L. Butler Construction worked hand in hand to design, plan, remodel and redecorate the existing learning center through subcontractors and their own internal resources in order to meet an aggressive timeline.

"We initially approached this opportunity as we would any construction project for Target, but later discovered that the finished product actually changes individual's perceptions of reading and how a vibrant and fun library can actually reignite the learning process within a school and its surrounding community. Since 'giving back' is such an integral part of our company's history and culture, this was truly a win-win for us," says Joel Butler, Project Manager at W. L. Butler Construction, Inc.

The award is dedicated to Mack Garrett, who became synonymous with a "can-do" positive attitude. He took major problems and turned them into shared successes. His smooth, soothing demeanor instantly calmed tense situation and got people focused. He always knew when to use the hammer or the carrot to get things done.

"Target values collaboration and teamwork above all else. We commend your long standing commitment to the communities in which you live and work. You mirror our philosophy, which makes W. L. Butler Construction the natural choice for this program and this recognition," says Scott Galbraith, Senior Project Manager for Target Corporation.

Scott Galbraith from Target Corporation and Jerry McDonald from Target Property Development officially presented the award at a private ceremony held on Thursday, May 27, 2008 at the W. L. Butler Construction headquarters in Redwood City. Team members receiving this award included Dave Nevens, VP of Construction; Charlie Kelly, Senior Project Manager; Joel Butler, Project Manager; John Bernal, General Superintendent; Wayne Flora, Superintendent; and Tony Santos, Construction Consultant.
